Abia Speaker Explains Increase In 2012 Budget Estimate


 The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly , Rt. Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu  has stated that the increase  in the budget estimate was prompted by the need to adequately provide for the payment of the new minimum wage, transformation of Aba City, revival of ailing industries, creation of enabling environment in the oil and gas industry.

Oko Chukwu disclosed this during the signing of the budget by the state governor, Chief  Theodore Orji at the Government House ,Umuahia

The Speaker added that the budget will turn boost all sectors of the state economy.

Recall that Gov. Orji had on December 19, 2011, presented before the House of Assembly a budget of N122, 390, 433, 920.00.

However, after the various ministries had defended their budget estimates under the auspices of the Appropriation Committee led by Hon. Martin Okechukwu Azubuike, the House of Assembly increased it to N129, 959, 325, 170. 00.
