Two members of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) were shot dead in Minna, Niger State, police spokesman, Richard Ogunche, said on Friday.
According to Ogunche, the gunmen had refused to stop at a police checkpoint and opened fire, also wounding another officer.
He said an investigation into the shooting, which happened on Thursday, is ongoing.
The recent shootings occurred a day after alleged members of the Boko Haram sect broke into a federal prison in Kogi, freeing 128 inmates and killing a warder attached to the facility.
