Another bomb blast in Kaduna
A bomb disposal officer was killed while trying to defuse an IED that was hidden behind an electricity pole.
There has been an explosion in Kaduna State.
The blast occurred at Unguwar-Sarki, Kaduna City, on Tuesday morning.
The military and police have cordoned off the area where the explosion occurred. Eyewitnesses said they saw a military chopper hovering around the vicinity of the blast.
A bomb disposal officer was killed as he was trying to defuse an IED. The device he was trying to defuse was wrapped in a bag and hidden behind an electricity pole at a bus stop in the residential area of Unguwar Sarki district of Kaduna city. The body of the officer was splashed across the street.
One passerby was slightly injured in the face by fragments of the IED.
Kaduna Police spokesman, ASP Aminu Lawan told journalists that several unexploded IED were recovered in the area.
No other person was killed.
The Boko Haram, a terrorist group operating in northern Nigeria has claimed responsibility for several bombings in the area.
