Registered SIMs hit 110m

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has revealed that over 110 million Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards have been registered so far.
The Executive Vice- Chairman of NCC, Eugene Juwah, gave the exact figures on Tuesday in Abuja as 110, 433, 976. He also vowed that the agency would not protect telecoms operators if they were found to be cheating on subscribers.
While maintaining that the registration of SIMs was practically coming to an end except sideline registration of new lines, Juwah also revealed that there was clear evidence of multiple registrations and assured that, “these will be eliminated to create a database of integrity and credibility.”
According to him, subscribers whose SIM cards are not registered at the expiration of the exercise would be deemed not to be interested in the process or that the SIMs had been abandoned and would be disconnected.
